During this year’s LE Miami Convention, W Hotels hosted an event for five-hundred guests at its celebrated South Beach property to commemorate the recent opening of its latest Mexican escape, W Punta de Mita. Our design — informed by the vibrant tropical hideaway — included references to the gypset watering holes of surf destination Sayulita and traditional artisanal practices of the Riviera Nayarit. Borrowing elements from the property’s design, our event was anchored by a Huichol patterned stage built at the center of the Wet Deck’s pool. Guests were welcomed by a cast of handsome surfers in custom wet suits and flash tattoos offering attendees a refreshing tequila drink. At the Grove, a photo booth tended by a drag performer dressed as Frida Kahlo was fashioned to mimic the property’s unique papel picado accents. Throughout the evening, a slew of surprises took the main stage, from a procession that included fire breathers and electric drummers to an intoxicating DJ set by Burning Man sensation, Erica Rhone, immersing guests in W’s unmistakable breed of leisure.
