CFDA Awards Cocktail Party

Held in the historic lobby of 100 Barclay Street, The Gathery designed and produce a whimsical cocktail party that welcomed American designers as they toasted their CFDA Awards nominations. Working closely with Swarovski, we transformed the shimmering Art Deco setting into a vibrant carnival. Anchoring the room, a larger-than-life pinwheel fashioned out of nine custom crystal pennants designed by each of the 9 Swarovski Award nominees. Tended by an attendant styled in striking Gigi Burris headpieces, the novel set piece served as the backdrop for a lively gif booth. Tarot card readers, dripping in brilliant crystal jewelry and custom turbans, read designer’s fortunes in a tableau accented with breathtaking bedazzled Swarovski props. DJ May Kwok took over the turntables while attendees enjoyed unconventional gourmet bites and drinks inspired by carnival staples.

Fashion Future

For three consecutive years, The Gathery collaborated with the Council of Fashion Designers of America to design and produce The CFDA Fashion Future Graduate Showcase. The initiative, a hybrid of both a physical and digital showcase, spotlighted exemplary new talent in the fashion industry. With each edition, the curated exposition featured the work of 50 students of all specializations including apparel, accessories, jewelry and textiles.

Love Ball

In 1989, Susanne Bartsch, a 30-year veteran of New York City nightlife, presented The Love Ball at Roseland Ballroom. Born from the devastation felt by the community and the many friends lost to the AIDS epidemic, the inaugural gala event rallied the fashion community to raise awareness and funds that went directly to those affected by HIV and AIDS. The Gathery partnered with The Council of Fashion Designers of America and the legendary nightlife figure to bring back the historic ball.
